judulnya saja setiap pembaca sudah dapat menduga bahwa isinya hendak
“menelanjangi” gerakan globalisasi yang diluncurkan dari negara-negara
industri maju laksana kekuatan imperialisme baru pada awal abad 21 ini.
Artinya, sebagaimana judul bab I. “Globalization” or
“Imperialism”?. Globalisasi dapat dipastikan akan menguntungkan
imperialis (penjajah) dan merugikan si terjajah, negara-negara
berkembang. Kelompok elit di negara-negara
berkembang menyambut baik karena mereka mengira dan mengharapkan
diuntungkan oleh globalisasi itu. Buku ini terbagi dalam 11 bab sebagai

Dari
bab XI dapat disimpulkan bahwa sangat keliru menyatakan dewasa ini
Sosialisme telah mati dan seluruh dunia sudah menerima dan menerapkan
sistem kapitalisme.
Sweeping
generalizations about the universal triumph of capitalism/imperialism in
the wake of the demise of the USSR, as trumpeted by its defenders and
echoed by demoralized sectors of the Left intelligentsia, have no
empirical basis. (h. 161)
Adalah
tidak benar menyatakan bahwa globalisasi tak terhindarkan:
By
understanding its historical and structural limitations and underlying
class ideology, it is possible to escape the tyranny of
“globalism”.(h. 175)
The
dynamics of globalization in Asia, the ex-USSR, Africa and Latin America
are creating tremendous hardships but also provide an historic
opportunity to transcend capitalism. It would be a failure of nerve of
historic proportions to settle fo anything less than a new socialist
society, the new nation as an integral whole, a new culture of
participants and not spectators, and a new internationalism of equals.
